The Challenge
  • The home page of our application presents the greatest complexity. It involves a multitude of dynamic views, actions, and design variations tailored to each user's preferences and country. The implementation necessitates extensive code and the management of numerous scenarios within a single page.

  • To address our specific requirement of allowing only three fixed aspect ratios (1:1, 4:5, and 4:3) for images, we needed to devise a custom user interface and logic. Previously, we utilized the pod library for cropping, but unfortunately, it did not offer the exact solution we sought. In fact, we encountered difficulties when attempting to scale a cropped image.

The Solution
  • To simplify the complexity of the home page, we made the transition to WKWebView, enabling us to display content from a URL and pass all the necessary parameters to create a highly personalized user experience. By leveraging the web, we gained more flexibility in making minor design updates without having to release a new version of the application. Although the design problem was resolved, we continued to handle all actions and clicks natively through WKScriptMessageHandler, allowing us to retain the use of native logic within the web view.

  • In order to customize the image crop flow according to our requirements, we took the ‘TOCropViewController‘ pod library and forked it in our Git repository. We comprehensively modified the entire flow and successfully addressed the scaling issue we had previously encountered.

Our Happy clients have a lot to tell you.
